An 12-year-old boy who'd been in a state of coma for the past four months passed away on Saturday at the London medical  facility after the doctor stopped the life-sustaining treatment

The  mother of Archie Battersbee's, Hollie Dance, said that her son passed  away at 1215 p.m. approximately 2 hours following the time when the  hospital started withholding the treatment

British  courts had rejected the family's attempt to prolong treatment as well  as the request to transfer Archie to an institution of care, stating  that neither was best for the child's interests

"I'm the most proud mom on earth," Dance said as she stood in front of the hospital and wept.  "Such an adorable little boy . He did not give up until the final."

The  legal dispute has been the most recent in a long line of highly public  British cases where parents and doctors have fought over who is the best  competent to make decisions

This has led to some debate over an alternative that is more suitable to resolve these disputes away to the courts.

Archie was discovered unresponsive at home, with an affixed headband on the 7th of April.  The family believes that he might be participating in an online contest which went wrong.

Doctors  determined that Archie had died of brain-stem cancer shortly after the  accident, and tried to stop the long liste of therapies that helped keep  Archie alive.
